Breakthrough Leadership

2007-2008

CSDC will offer BREAKTHROUGH LEADERSHIP learning opportunities for teachers, teacher leaders, instructional coaches, teams and principals.  Some are  scheduled, while others are still in the planning stages.

  • Special One-Day Events:  Bring a team and learn together.  Each event will offer new ideas for the work of schools with time to plan for applying new learning.

    • Creating Important Conversations in Schools: Protocols for Examining Student Work
    • Creating Important Conversations in Schools:  Models for Data Dialogue
  • Teacher Leadership:  These professional development offerings focus on the development of teacher leaders in our schools to do the work needed for increased student learning.
    • Taking the Lead:  Focusing on the Roles of Teacher Leaders and Instructional Coaches with Cindy Harrison and Joellen Killion (September 24, 2007)
    • Facilitation Skills for Teacher Leaders and Instructional Coaches
    • Developing Collaboration in Schools:  Breaking Through the Isolation 
  • Year-long work with teams:  This professional development series for teams working together develops the skills necessary for collaboration for school improvement.
    • Skills for Teams 101:  Running Effective Meetings
    • Skills for Teams 101:  The Role of Facilitator
    • Skills for Teams 101:  Dealing with Conflict
  • Principal Leadership:  These learning opportunities create deep dialogue and conversation for principals focused on what principals need to know and be able to do to lead schools in today’s world of education.
    • Developing Standards-based Education Classrooms
    • Defining Quality Teaching and Learning
    • Focusing on and Monitoring Instructional Improvement in Schools
