Relicensure Credit Program

Supporting educators through professional learning is a primary focus of Learning Forward Colorado's mission. Learning Forward Colorado event participants receive a Relicensure Credit Form at the end of each event with pertinent information and the number of clock hours received for that event. Clock hours can be converted to license renewal requirement using the following formula authorized by the Colorado Department of Education:

  • 15 clock hours of approved inservice education = 1 semester relicensure credit
  • Six semester credits are required for renewal.

Who?

This session will be most useful to teachers and school coaches. Principals and district employees are also encouraged to attend so that they may lead this crucial discussion in their schools and districts.

Why?

The phrase "21st Century Learning Skills" is bantered about frequently. In fact, it's embedded into the new Colorado Academic Standards and common core. But what are the 21st Century skills? In particular, what are the implications for literacy instruction in K-12? This presentation will help attendees unravel this huge concept.

Expected outcomes:
  • Synthesize various reports on 21st Century literacy skills.
  • Identify implications of those reports for literacy educators.
  • Know the 9 skills all educators need.
  • Categorize what is new & what is familiar in literacy practices.
  • Apply the 3 R's & the 4 C's of 21st Century skills to literacy.

A wiki will be created for participants with various reports on 21st Century literacy skills & numerous links to relevant videos, websites, blogs, & other wikis. All handouts will be available for sharing on the wiki. Be sure to bring a computer!
