It's Official!
Learning Forward Colorado Changes Its Name!

Thanks to CSDC members who made time to vote! The Colorado Staff Development Council is in the process of changing its name to Learning Forward Colorado. Out of 53 members who voted, 51 were in favor of the change.

We are following in the footsteps of our parent organization, formerly NSDC and most recently, Learning Forward. As we continue completing the process of changing from the Colorado Staff Development Council

ACADEMY FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

Many school improvement plans have faltered, not because the plan was inadequate, but because the ordeal of implementation was too great. Deepening the capabilities of school and district leaders to sustain a continuous cycle of school improvement resulting in increased student achievement is the goal of this Academy. Discounted rates available this year due to Learning Forward grant money awarded to Learning Forward Colorado.

Teacher Leaders
are Essential

by Jessica Keigan

Have you heard of the Denver
New Millennium Initiative
?

A well-funded drive from the Center for Teacher Quality,
this initiative has given rise to "teacherpreneurs," hybrid teacher leaders who are empowered to influence educational policy and politics
all while keeping their feet firmly planted in the best practices of the classroom. Jessica Keigan is a teacherpreneur, who
spends half her time teaching English at Horizon High School, Adams 12 Five Star School District, and half her time working with her New Millennium cohort. Together with her team, she strives to strengthen and heighten the voice of classroom teachers to impact educational policies, such as SB 191, by ensuring that those with pedagogical expertise are involved in the decision-making that will impact the future of the educational profession at the local, state and national level.

Let Jessica’s story inspire
you to take or continue in
a leadership role...

with schools or districts in the
area, I read the marquee as a

on behalf of other citizens just
exactly what Teacher Learning
at that school is all about and
why does it take early release
days twice a month.
