NSDC Summer Conference

NSDC's Summer Conference, Creating A World of Wonder Through School-Based Professional Learning was held in Orlando at the Orlando World Center Marriott July 13-16. The Pre-conference for NSDC Affiliates, It's Not Just Magic ... It's M.A.G.I.C. was held from July 11-13. CSDC was represented by Rob Nickerson (co-president), Jan Herrera (past president) and Mary Ann Grenawalt (administrative coordinator).

The primary focus of the pre-conference was for affiliates to gain clarity about all aspects of NSDC's definition of professional learning, as well as NSDC's Five Strategic Priorities. Stephanie Hirsh, NSDC's Executive Director and Joellen Killion, NSDC's Deputy Executive Director played a major role in delivering information and facilitating group discussions.

Participants acquired tools and strategies for communicating the definition and priorities to various stakeholder groups within their schools, districts and affiliates. Sharing ideas with many other state affiliates was a highlight of the conference.
