“Leading for Results”

Dennis Sparks photoOn May 9th approximately 120 people attended Dennis Sparks outstanding workshop, Leading for Results. Participants explored ways leaders can change themselves to address major barriers to improvement, and to promote transformations in professional learning, teaching and student learning.

The day was structured to provide time for networking and interactive activities, as well as information from Dennis. Participants received a copy of Dr. Sparks’ new book, Leading for Results: Transforming Teaching, Learning, and Relationships in Schools.

Comments from participants include …

“Inspiring speaker!”
“Interesting discussions, thought provoking.”
“Thank you for pushing our thinking.”
“This book is a wonderful resource for continued learning.”
“I plan to apply these lessons to my personal and professional life.”

What an inspiring way to end the 2005-2006 school year! It was also an excellent way to lead into the professional learning events we have planned for next year. Our focus will continue to be on “leadership” (Leadership Strategies for Purposeful Change). Dates and topics are listed on the Home Page. Be sure to check CSDC’s website this summer for specific information about upcoming opportunities.

Important Note:
Dennis Sparks recently announced his plans to retire from his position as Executive Director of the National Staff Development Council. For more information about this change see NSDC’s website (www.nsdc.org) and check out “NSDC Announces Change in Leadership”.
